More than 30 years ago, I travelled to the Himalayas for the first time. My journey at that time took me to the mountains of Nepal. In keeping with the spirit of Wilhelm von Humboldt, I dived into the mysterious world of the last Hindu kingdom in the Himalayas.

In the following days the weather was too bad for climbing in the mountains, so we used this time for sport climbing and exploring the surrounding area, as well as for testing the Argentine specialties (steak, barbecue, chorizo, ice cream, dulce de leche, ...)

As the goal for this year's expedition I chose Patagonia (Argentina), with the goal of climbing Cerro Torre. Patagonia is a region located in the southern part of South America and is a part of two countries – Argentina and Chile. I headed to the province of Santa Cruz in Argentina, which is very popular for trekking and climbing.
